Tagger.fm: a successful IBBT-incubation project
Geschreven door IBBT op Monday 26 October 2009

Listening to music is becoming an increasingly social and interactive event. You hear a great song and immediately you want to tell your friends about it. Until recently, if you didn't know the song title or who is playing, you were out of luck. Now, by sending an SMS to Tagger.fm, that problem is solved. Tagger.fm lets you know immediately what song is playing on your favorite station.
Tagging music
Tagger.fm literally means defining ('tagging') your interest in music ('fm'). This is not a new tool as evidenced by the popularity of similar services in other countries such. But Tagger.fm wants to provide more services than just tagging music. Tagger.fm wants to expand and intensify the music experience by bringing the different music parties closer together: artists, radio stations and concert organizers want to find out as much as possible about their audience. Who are their fans and what radio station do they listen to? Which concerts and festivals do they attend? The more information artists, radio stations and concert organizers know about their public, the better the can meet the needs of that audience. Tagger.fm encourages listeners and fans to register themselves and offers them premium content (pictures, interviews, unpublished material) in return.
Tagger.fm and Milk Inc.
Recently Tagger.fm completed its first successful collaboration with the Belgian pop group Milk Inc. Fans could tag the Milk Inc. concert and received a code via their mobile phone. With the code, they gained access to the site of Tagger.fm which featured exclusive material of Milk Inc.
The first pilot project was a great success for all parties involved. After the concerts Milk Inc. had almost 1000 new, registered fans. For Milk Inc. this is a great base to enhance future relations with their fans, through a newsletter for example r. The concert goers were equally happy because they could relive the concert, hear an exclusive interview with the producer Reggi and view pictures of the concert through the Tagger.fm site. Tagger.fm was also pleased with the outcome. The first project proves there is an audience for the technology and services of Tagger.fm and that their business model has potential. It is now up to Tagger.fm to leverage this and to strengthen contacts with their business partners. In the long term, the business-to-business approach will most likely generate the most cash flow.
