How to start up project?

Share your project idea

Do you have a creative and innovative idea that will involve the use or the development of advanced ICT technology? Contact IBBT via this link and let us know what challenge you would like to tackle.

  • If you need a research project specifically for your company or organization (Contract Research), IBBT will immediately contact you to discuss further details.
  • If your research project involves different companies and organizations (former GBO / current ICON – Interdisciplinary Collaborative Research), IBBT will help you find the right partners. The project idea will be discussed and further fine-tuned among all parties involved.

Submit your project proposal

Every year, IBBT offers companies and organizations the opportunity to submit their project proposals.

After a first successful call for ICON projects (Interdisciplinary Cooperative Research), our second call launches now. ICON projects replace the former GBO projects. The new ICON procedure is strongly geared to IWT’s R&D procedure. By means of one single application procedure with IBBT, all companies complying with the IWT conditions will be able to apply directly for IWT support for the ICON project.

Please contact project development or the program managers (Birgit Morlion, Nico Verplancke) for any questions regarding the preparation of project ideas.

Living lab projects

What are living lab projects?

The development of successful innovative ICT applications and services requires more than a good idea and a sporadic integration of user feedback in the development cycle. Successful innovation requires continuous involvement and feedback of users throughout the whole development cycle. Therefore the living lab concept has been developed. Through the Flemish living lab program the unique opportunity has been created to support, in a structured way, the development of new living labs. More information on the living lab concept can be found in the manual.

IBBT has been asked to render support in the realization of a number of concrete living lab cases in the domain of converged broadband access networks. Thereto IBBT has defined the following call procedure. IBBT gives advice and support but the evaluation and allocation is done by IWT according to the above mentioned manual. The mission of the living lab program is to facilitate stakeholders (Flemish companies and partners) during large scale user tests within certain ICT application domains on innovative infrastructure of the next generation network technology.
