On the other hand, this implies that a whole range of currently reliable and manageable applications now have to be realized using an unreliable wireless medium. Severe security regulations and protection of personal privacy will also be considered in this project. Further this project will not only research the existing applications, but will also introduce new applications such as indoor positioning and to contribute to a profounder insight into wireless building automation.

The project Wireless Building Automation introduces the use of wireless networks with administrators of public buildings and professional infrastructures. Wireless communication provides substantial added value: It is flexible, quickly applied and the installation costs are low. But there is also insecurity. Existing wireless applications must in future be just as reliable and manageable as they are today. Additional concerns are security requirements and the maintenance of personal privacy.

Additionally, WBA searches for new application domains, such as indoor positioning and wireless automation of buildings.
