DEUS

DEUS

DEUS’ primary goal is the development of platforms for wireless network solutions and services that allow easy deployment of heterogeneous wireless network infrastructure and which can ensure a simple composition of location-based services in dynamic environments.

An important aspect within the development of such a service platform is the efficient handling and processing of enormous amounts of data from various sources in the surrounding area.

To achieve operational efficiency in this area, the network must support the notion of Quality of Data. In other words, the network itself must be capable of handling information and data intelligently in order to be able to decide by itself the optimal configuration for each node in the network.

DEUS seeks answers to three key questions

  1. How can we create added value for our clients? A multidisciplinary team consisting of technology developers and user study groups research domains ranging from cultural events to the guidance of pedestrians in public areas to mobility support for the elderly.
  2. How can we efficiently manage all the data? DEUS will deploy sensors in order to collect larger amounts of data (temperature, movements...) as quickly as possible. The challenge then lies in quickly collecting the data and combining it with stats from other sources. All information must then make it possible to offer the appropriate services to the user.
  3. What do we do with the technology? Within the DEUS project, several building blocks (hardware and software) are being researched, including both networks with wireless sensors and mesh networks. In order to measure these models, ‘Proof of Concepts’ have been established to enable audience testing.
