Project summary
This project wants to investigate how the newest insights and developments in ICT can support the continuous care provision process within intra-mural care organizations. Specifically the triangle nurse/caregiver – patient – room environment will be examined thoroughly.
Based on principles of self-learning software the project will investigate in close collaboration with the targeted end users (primary nurses/caregivers) which and how new care practices can be fed-in into the ontology environment and how it can be (semi)-automatically adapted to the real life care practices, to guarantee a sustainable and controllable system for its end-users. These new concepts should lead to less “technology orchestration” effort spent by caregivers, and a better support for both patient and caregiver/nurse.
A set of recommendations towards the “patient room of the future” will be drawn. A major outcome of the project will be a Proof of Concept demonstration in a controlled lab environment. A multi-dimensional valorisation track is foreseen at the end of the project accomplished with recommendations for further research. The consortium believes this type of interdisciplinary projects are necessary in order to accomplish real user oriented “ambient aware solutions” for the provisioning of continuous care in the future.
