Plug & Play Tech Center
Silicon Valley – a unique ecosystem
Regardless of how much groundbreaking research is carried out in Europe, market leaders such as Microsoft, Facebook, Google and Twitter continue to emerge from the United States.
The dynamics of an ‘ecosystem’ such as Silicon Valley, in which top universities, venture capital, large companies and entrepreneurs interact to create major innovations, has proven its worth.
Belgian ICT starters can spread their wings in California
Any Belgian ICT startup with global ambitions would do best to adopt an international strategy from the word go. To compete effectively in the world market, however, it often is imperative to establish yourself first in an innovation hot spot such as Silicon Valley, where companies gain access to the expertise and capital required to take their company to the next level.
IBBT has therefore decided to form a partnership with the Californian incubator Plug & Play Tech Center, supported by Flanders Investment & Trade. At Plug & Play, promising technology startups not only find a home in the heart of Silicon Valley, but also receive the introductions, local market knowledge and support they need to get started up quickly.
There are now more than 250 start-ups present in the Plug & Play Tech Center and more than 50 of these are international companies that were set up elsewhere.
The objective of your stay at Plug & Play is to gain first-hand familiarity with the Silicon Valley ecosystem and to build a network of commercial and financial relations in the United States.
