In October 2011 they established a BVBA. The launch of the website in December ensures that the application can be brought to the market by mid February.

 

Carambla is an online market place where drivers who are looking for a parking spot get in touch with people or organizations who lease their free parking spot. 

At the launch of their 'app' Carambla wants to be able to offer about 500 parking spots in Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels. Later on they will extend their activities to the rest of Flanders and Belgium.

The starting point of an ICON project is an ICT-related need detected by companies, governments or organizations and is typically situated within IBBT’s five apllication domains: Culture & Media, Healthy Society, Green ICT, Sustainable Mobility and Social & Secure ICT. In cooperation with the university research departments IBBT helps you to deal with this question and to find the right partners. 

 

Who can participate?

The research partners can be of all kind. SME’s, large companies, local branches of multinationals as well as governments and social profit organizations can participate. A well-balanced consortium in which the consumer is involved as well is a prior condition for the success of the solution. In ICON projects not only the technological aspects are important, also the legal and social aspects are being studied. The final result of the two-year project is a demonstrator.

 

Info session

For more personalized information IBBT hosts an info session on the 14th of March 2012 (from 10h to 12h30) to support project partners with the preparations of a proposal. This info session covers all procedures and goals of ICON-projects in depth. Since the procedure has recently changed, the session might also be interesting for those who are already familiar with ICON projects.

Our main goal for our meeting with Aaron was to learn his thoughts on our business. 

He asked us to give him a brief overview of what Wondergraphs is all about, why we started the company and what we would like to achieve. 

During our step-by-step demonstration of Wondergraphs he gave both compliments, shared criticisms and gave suggestions for improvements, all in a kind, genuine manner.  Because he is familiar with the difficulty of "doing graphs right" he picked up on details that are often overseen.

After the demonstration we talked numbers, strategies, plans and focus. 

We made several pages of notes and are following up already!

And just to make sure :
Wondergraphs is all about online visual analytics and reporting.  We started our company because we just can't stand mediocrity in the business intelligence industry anymore.  And we're working hard on a world class product that is cherished by knowledge workers all over the world!

The IBBT iBoot camp is aimed at stimulating entrepreneurship as the program of specialized workshops focuses attention on training, coaching and teamwork around a specific business idea.

At the end of the iBoot camp, the various multidisciplinary teams have to present their project proposals to a panel of experts, including venture capitalists, who provide them with feedback and advice.
