Looking for a new challenge? Join our iBoot Camp 2010

To stimulate entrepreneurship IBBT organizes the IBBT iBoot camp: a program for multidisciplinary teams consisting of specialized coaching and training sessions. At the end of the iBoot camp, the various teams have to present their project proposals to a panel of experts, including venture capitalists, who provide them with feedback and advice. From January 15th, 2010 on potential ideas & business concepts from our IBBT researchers and partners will be presented on the ibootteam website.

Experience design at Friday Food - January 8th @ IBBT, Ghent

During this Friday Food we want to zoom in on the potential of a parallel design track inside IBBT projects. This track aims to enhance development of hard- and software in a pervasive world. Coming from an industrial design background, Pieter Heytens and Dries De Roeck will give a couple of examples of how methods coming from design thinking, experience, interaction and industrial design can inspire and stretch IBBT projects towards a marketable product candidate or working prototype.

IPR workshop: additional IPR support - January 12th @ IBBT, Ghent

Although open for all, this event is especially relevant for new iBoot candidates. The program of this IPR workshop will include a first-aid IP guide for entrepreneurs (theoretical approach), followed by some practical training with exercises related to IP searches, use of public databases, etc. We will close this event with a number of recent testimonials from within the IBBT network on topics such as IPR in spin-off creation, licensing, open source software and the `freedom to operateŽ aspect.

Better distance learning thanks to Teleclassing project - January 19th @ IBBT, Ghent

The major challenge of distance learning is to create the sense of a real lesson and classroom experience. This challenge makes high demands, if the user wants to experience a real classroom environment: high video quality (high definition), high audio quality with its spatial effects (spatial audio), a very small transmission delay (low latency) to obtain the experience of a natural conversation.... These and other themes will be the main subject of the closing event of the Teleclassing research project.

NG wireless workshop: cognitive networks - interference sensibility - January 21st @ IBBT, Ghent

On Thursday January 21st, IBBT and IMEC are organizing a first workshop to present the results of their joint strategic research program, aiming at introducing cognitive elements to next-generation networks and terminals. Focus of this first workshop will be on interference sensibility, which means that technology will be proposed to sense interference, to avoid harmful interference and to minimize interference through cooperation between networks. In addition, focus will be on modeling the impact of interference on cost and revenue structures of wireless communication stakeholders.

Medical image quality assurance thanks to MEVIC project - February 11th @ Barco, Korkrijk

One of the biggest challenges in the medical imaging domain is to accurately and reliably quantify and then optimize the clinical performance of acquisition devices, image processing algorithms and displays. The MEVIC project tried to tackle this problem by developing a software simulation platform. The platform will be used to simulate the entire medical image chain: from image generation, to processing, to visualization. We welcome you to the closing event of this research project, on February 11th, 2010 with an overview of the project and a demonstration tour.
