Monkey Tales wins European Oscars for Educational Media

Written by IBBT on Thursday 29 December 2011

Monkey Tales both won the main prize at the MEDEA Awards 2011 and the prize of the audience for best innovation of the year. The main idea for developer Larian Studios is that games can help children to repeat lessons they learn at school.

For all levels

Monkey Tales differs from similar products because the game adapts to the level of the player. This allows both weaker and stronger students to progress. To win the game, kids should solve logic puzzles in a 3D world and defeat adversaries in a series of educational mini-games.

For PC and Mac

Currently, there are five math games available based on the material of the second through the sixth grade. The exercises that are dealt with are following the Flemish curriculum. Monkey Tales is available as a digital download through www.monkeytalesgames.com or on DVD in De Standaard Boekhandel. The game is now available for PC. A Mac version is planned for early 2012.

Free Trial

As part of a study on the effectiveness of teaching methods in Monkey Tales, the publisher offers a free version of ‘The Princess of Sundara’ (for pupils aged 7 years and older). Teachers who want to try out games in the classroom, can register here.
