GBO-projects become ICON-projects

The application and evaluation processes for interdisciplinary cooperation projects with IBBT companies, formerly known as GBO projects, are currently under review and will henceforth be replaced by projects for Interdisciplinary Cooperative Research (ICON projects). There is substantially no difference between this type of projects and the GBO goals but the liaison with the IWT is being reinforced.

By means of one single application procedure with IBBT, all companies complying with the IWT conditions will be able to apply directly for IWT support for the ICON project.  Pending specific features and procedures, you can already start preparing draft proposals.  If you need more information, please contact the program managers (Birgit Morlion, Nico Verplancke or André De Vleeschouwer) or send an email to project management.

Timing

• Early October 2008 Gathering of project ideas, pipeline management and partnering
• 19 December 2008 Submission templates and manual available
• 23 December 2008 Cut-off date for project ideas submission
• 16 February 2009 Cut-off date for project proposal submission
• June 2009  Decisions on ICON projects

A second submission deadline will be set by October 2009.
