Prof. Pieter Ballon
iLab.o - General Manager

Pieter Ballon manages IBBT iLab.o. He is also head of the Media, Market and Innovation research group at IBBT-SMIT. He specializes in business modeling, open innovation and the mobile telecommunications industry. He has been involved in numerous national and international R&D projects in this field, and has published widely on these topics.  Currently, he is the international Secretary of the European Network of Living Labs. Pieter Ballon holds a PhD in Communication Sciences and a MA in Modern History.

 

Tanguy Coenen
iLab.o - Information Architect

Tanguy draws up new prototypes for your application idea:  basically, he experiments with new information technologies and possible use cases to find out how users will react.

 Prof. Lieven De Marez
iLab.o - Manager

Prof. Dr. Lieven De Marez is a member of iLab.o’s management team. As a professor teaching innovation research (UGent) Lieven manages the methodological challenges with regard to iLab.o’s living lab activities: panel management, the development of an own panel (cf. www.digimeter.be) and the development of a specific toolbox for living lab research.

Sabine De Moor
iLab.o - Panel Manager LeyLab

Sabine is Panel Manager of LeYLab, a living lab for new fiber services on at Kortrijk. Therefore, she can be considered a pillar to all families in the Buda and Overleie neighbourhoods, who decided to go along in the wonderful world of lightning-fast internet connections.

Koen De Vos
iLab.o - Operations Manager

Holding a masters degree in political sciences, Koen acquired a firm background in ICT policy and implementation. As a former cabinet Advisor, he worked on an end-to-end approach for eGovernment applications, including a sustainable business model for Wireless cities. Early 2009, he switched to IBBT-iLab.o, to join the real fieldwork on Innovation in ICT through Living Labs. He's currently the Operations Manager for iLab.o, handling financial, legal, ICT Support and administrative matters.

Anna Kivilehto
iLab.o - Network Manager

Anna Kivilehto is Network Manager of the European Network of Living Labs at the ENoLL Office in Brussels.  Working closely with Prof. Dr. Pieter Ballon, the ENoLL Secretariat, and IBBT/iLab.o team members Koen De Vos and Els Sevenants. She is responsible for supporting the ENoLL Chair and the Council in the strategic development of the network and responsible of both internal and external communications of the network. She runs the ENoLL Office in Brussels, serving as a single contact point for all queries concerning the network.

Bram Lievens
iLab.o - Senior Researcher

Bram Lievens is a senior researcher at IBBT-SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and IBBT. researches how and why people use new technologies (domestication research),  what makes Living Labs tick and why they offer fertile grounds for new services & applications, and looks at how open innovation and active user involvement in ICT catalyzes innovation. Bram holds a Master in Communication Sciences.

Camille Reynders
iLab.o - Multi Media Developer

Camille Reynders develops and designs applications for the web and mobile devices, with a focus on the use of emerging technologies. He is known to speak in code and design, rather than words, so we’ll keep this short.

Dimitri Schuurman
iLab.o - Researcher

Dimitri is researcher for iLab.o. His research focuses on the way the user can be involved within innovation methods and techniques (e.g.  lead user methods, Living Lab-research), and especially which user  to use at what stage within the innovation process, rather than simply  involving 'the user'. As PhD-candidate, he is also preparing a PhD  with the working title: ‘User-centered ICT-innovation: towards a  methodological toolbox on which user to involve at what stage during 
ICT-innovation in Living Lab-contexts’.

Caroline Luneaut
iLab.o - Office Manager

Caroline ensures that iLab.o is running smoothly: point of contact on issues regarding HR, general and project administration, events, meetings. She offers support to the ENoLL Secretariat and management of iLab.o. Our SPOC, if there ever was one.

Maxime Swÿsen
iLab.o - Panel Manager

He's one of the people getting the test users enthusiastic and well-informed about participating to projects and is always prepared to answer their questions or solve any occuring problems for them. He is one of many reasons why the test users have a very pleasant experience at iLab.o.

Carina Veeckman
iLab.o - Researcher

Carina is researcher at iLab.o with a focus on the "Vlaams Proeftuin Platform". Her heart goes out to user centered research to gain insight in the behaviour and interests of users of innovative products and services. Carina holds a bachelor in Communication Management and a master in Communication Sciences.

Koen Vervoort
iLab.o - Panel Manager

Koen is the driving force behind Digimeter. He coordinates and draws the lines of the development and working of the testpanels with projects such as LeYLab and Flellap. Singlehandedly extends the definition of the term ‘People Manager’.
