Katrien Van Gucht
Katrien Van Gucht graduated in policial science at the University of Ghent, after one year Erasmus exchange at the Cardenal Herrerra University – San Pablo in Valencia (Spain). It was there that she started her professional career at a local Lifelong Learning Initiative on scholar programmes and student exchange. Because she was interested in the European Framework Programmes on research and development she started to work as an innovation manager at the research institute Instituto de Biomecánica de Valencia. She created an international network of industrial innovationpartners and motivated regional SMEs to develop an innovation plan for their businesses; she gained experience in the European Frameworkprogrammes and augmented European visibility of her institution.
Since May 2011 Katrien forms part of the Innovation Models and Policies team at IBBT. She follows up on EU research policies and is involved in the internationalization plan of IBBT towards Flemish SMEs in the ICT sector.
